I can't even tell you how many times I have watched bride after bride sit and get pampered with hair and make-up by Lisa George and her team - but this time it was my turn to sit in the make-up chair!
Lisa George was kind enough to give me a make-up lesson and consultation this month and it was so much fun! First off - she was so flexible to deal with me and my busy schedule and she even came to my house with all of her goodies!
She started off my analyzing the make-up that I currently use, which definitely needed some updating! Then proceeded to show me quick tips and tricks to natural make-up application, while introducing me to some new colors at the same time. Lisa would do the left side of my face - one step at a time, starting with the eyes - and then let me apply to the right side. She said I was a quick learner!!
After realizing that what I thought was a pretty good make-up selection and a great regime was not even close - I was okay with it seeing that I just learned from one of the best! An hour and a half later I looked like a new person and had on fake eye lashes for the first time ever - how fun!
Although Lisa is no longer doing hair - so she can focus more on make-up - she still has an awesome, extremely experienced crew that she brings to weddings and special events! Contact Lisa to see if she is available for your special day! Thanks Lisa!
Two weeks ago I had the pleasure to spend an evening with flowers, wine and the lovely Patrice Milley of Patrice R. Milley Florals. I thought that it may be good to know some tricks of the trade in case I ever have to throw together an emergency centerpiece or boutineer! So I reached out to Patrice and she was willing to teach me some of her secrets!
After opening the wine and catching up a bit about our past weddings, she jumped right in and showed me how to make a boutineer. After mastering the complicated floral tape, I completed task #1 with great success. Unfortunately no photo proof of this one, but it was a beautiful pink rose, which we then turned into a corsage. Lucky me, I got to try my luck with the floral tape again!!
Then it was on to the centerpiece. Patrice had me all set-up with a white basket, lined with a plastic container, water and foam. She was also prepared with greens and flowers of the season (as she knew I was going to be taking this home to a jewelry party I was holding that weekend!). Patrice demonstrated a couple of techniques for placement into the foam, and then I was off. With only a couple minor corrections from Patrice, I think I came up with a beautiful product!! Granted I don't think I will be quitting my day job quite yet!
Patrice also sent me home with my own "Emergency Flower Kit" - with everything from the tricky green tape, floral wire, a knife for trimming flowers and a couple floral sticks for the off chance that any boutineer should get beheaded!
A huge thank you to Patrice for a fun evening! Next I hope to join her in action when she is actually preparing for a wedding next month! That should be a blast - as long as she doesn't put me on boutineer duty!!
Plan. Relax. Enjoy.
