Now that it is 2010 my brides are calling me up left and right to start getting serious about their 2010 weddings. Had two calls this week and thought I would share some of their great ideas.
One wedding is taking place at CBI's Boat House, which is one of my favorite locations to have a ceremony and reception on Cape Cod. It is going to be an intimate affair with about 40 people, which will be really nice. The colors they are going with are yellow and Tiffany blue - absolutely beautiful! The bride also has probably some of the best vendors lined up for her day, and all are from my vendor list - which I love!! It is the best thing to be able to work with people you know and love on a wedding, and she said it was the only place she turned when looking for her vendors. I made that list to make brides lives easier, as well as mine on their wedding day.
This particular bride had some great questions regarding her wedding. One thing she was wondering was if they should do formal parent dances seeing that it is both of their second marriages. What I recommended was that they do one dance for all Mother/Sons and Father/Daughters in the room so that it would be a group of people dancing together instead of a formal dance for each of them separately. She was also asking about rain plans, seeing that their ceremony would be outside, but we will defer to their catering manager on the best answer for that as they know the space and have dealt with it before.
My other bride is having her reception at the Chatham Beach & Tennis Club. I have never worked at this location before, but have heard great things about it and am really looking forward to working with David and his team. We had a great conversation today about everything from transportation to ordering bridesmaids dresses. One thing that I have found with bridesmaids dresses - especially when ordering from David's Bridal - is to order a size bigger than what you measure to. And usually the dress that you have tried on at the salon has been tried on hundreds of time and could have been stretched out. My sister-in-law ordered her size a year before the wedding and when she received the dress 10 months later it did not fit and there was NO fabric on the dress to take it out. With the help of Spanx she was able to make it work, but I now tell everyone to order bigger - it is easier to take in than to let out.
I still need to check in with my other 2 2010 brides - I only do 5 weddings a year because I like to give my brides the full attention they need - but I am sure they have everything on track!
I will share more ideas as they come along!
