![]() I am headed to Disney this week for a break from reality with my family, so it got me to thinking about fairytale weddings. I think it is so awesome that couples choose Cape Cod as the setting for their fairytale wedding! With such beautiful locations to choose from on the Cape, I would hope that Cinderella and Snow White would have loved to get married here too. What makes a fairytale wedding? The dress? The decorations? The horse and carriage? I would say that fairytale weddings are different for every bride and every budget. Some brides may see their wedding taking place on the beach at sunset with candles, flowers a 5 course meal and fireworks, while others may see their Cape wedding away from the beach under a beautifully lit tree with a delicious clam bake and close friends and family. Whatever your fairytale, let us be your fairy godmother and make it happen on Cape Cod, no need to be at Cinderella's castle to feel like a princess! Although I will say hi to her while I am there!

![]() Oh the dreaded question....Band or DJ? They are both so different, yet both so similar. Do you want a show or a dance party or a show and a dance party? Or a brass band from Fenway Park or a dance club with disco balls and lighting? Decisions, decisions. Although I do have a personal opinion, I never make the decision for my couples, but instead I ask them the following questions and give the following insights when faced with this dilemma. What type of music do you listen to? How much room does your venue have for dance floor and music? Are you very particular about the songs you want to hear? Do you have a list of music that is very atypical for a wedding? Do you want to be able to hear any song you want at anytime, or possibly be limited? Do you want to put on a show for your guests? Pluses of a DJ - They can play any song you want, at any time, and can download new songs quickly - They can quickly read the crowd and play any requests (if you allow requests!) - They can meet with you prior to the event, learn your playlist and customize it to your party Minus of a DJ - They can easily sway from your playlist (never to the do not play list of course!) if the crowd takes control and you could miss out on some favorite songs you wanted to hear Pluses of a Band - Puts on a show for your guests - Play mostly dance songs with tons of energy and will interact with your guests - Can be specific to your genre - jazz, brass band, African, top 40, 80s & 90s dance party, etc. Minus of a Band - Can be 2-3 times more expensive than a DJ There are many differences between a band and a DJ and based off of your answers to the questions above and your take on the pluses and minuses of both, you need to make the best decision for you and your guests. And seeing that you have invited all of your guests to travel to Cape Cod for your beautiful wedding, you want to make sure that your guests have a night to remember! I am so excited for all of my weddings this year, especially because they are truly taking me all over the Cape! So I thought I would take a minute to highlight all of these beautiful locations on Cape Cod to have your wedding and maybe you will see me there this Spring, Summer or Fall! Of course there are many other locations on the Cape that I do not mention here, but this gives you a small sampling of the locations I have been and may stem some ideas for you!
Wequassett Located in Harwich, this beautiful resort sits on Pleasant Bay and is a wonderful location for your event. Especially if you love the lower Cape. Ocean Edge Located in Brewster, this resort has many different options for your wedding from a mansion ballroom to a poolside pavilion and smaller venues on their golf course and their mansion. Great for a large wedding or a small rehearsal dinner! Cape Cod Museum of Art Located in Dennis, this art museum is perfect for weddings under 100ppl. With a 2 beautiful gardens for ceremony and cocktail hour and 2 large rooms with local art on the walls, this location is fun, different and a great location for those not set on a beach feel. SeaCrest Located in Falmouth, this resort was recently renovated and is located right on the beach! If you want to get married with your feet in the sand, it is an option at the SeaCrest. Wellfleet Preservation Hall Located in Wellfleet, this newly renovated and restored facility was formerly the town's Catholic Church. With two spacious halls (one with a stage), beautifully landscaped grounds and garden, it is a great location for intimate gatherings to larger private functions. The Sea View Located in Dennis, is a function hall location right across from the beach and in great vicinity to resorts for your guests. The Sea View has a beautiful outdoor ceremony reception, a really fun bar for cocktail hour and a great space for dinner and dancing. Bourne Farm Located in North Falmouth, is a great outdoor venue if you are looking for a tented reception. With a large pond, a small barn and a great lawn for any size tent, this location is picture perfect! Popponesset Located in Mashpee, is right on the water! A great way to feel like you are on the beach and almost having a tented event, without having the concern about weather. Chatham Bars Inn Located in Chatham, is not only my old stomping grounds, but has wedding venues for those looking for a modern beach feel at the Beach House Grill or Boat House, to a vintage feel in their grand Main Dining Room. Ceremonies in the sand with a beautiful ocean view! I am also doing a couple of at home weddings off Cape this year as well! The Bridal Show at New Seabury was a blast and thank you for all that attended!
We had a beautiful booth at the event manned by Amy, Mandee and myself, as well as a beautiful tablescape which I was so happy with! Our booth was set-up like a guest book, where interested brides filled out a pennant with their information and we hung it from our twine to create a fun colored display by the end of the day. We also provided each bride with something blue for their information, handmade blue flower pins! The tablescape could not have been possible without the beautiful flowers from All About Flowers for Weddings, wonderful rentals from Rentals Unlimited and creative menus from Dulce Press. The Cape Cod Celebrations team created the vision, spray painted recycled cans and mason jars, used chalkboard paint for the table number and vendor frame, made cute pinwheels for favors and had so much fun doing it! I wish I could have taken it all home! Huge thank you to Tom Davis at Studio 280, Kelly Hike at Hike Photography and Chris Cook from Chris Cook Photography for providing the photos below! Also at the event Mandee and I put on a 30 minute seminar called "The DIY Bride" where we shared DIY ideas with 10-12 brides and their guests. (Check out some photos here from You Ought to be in Pictures) We also made three different crafts with them to show them how easy it is to DIY. We made tissue packets called "Tears of Joy", drink stirrers and hand painted signs. We love DIY brides, but remember that you should not be doing any DIY the day of your wedding!! Find someone else to do projects for you that day, or hire someone to manage all of your perfect details! |
