If you were not able to attend the 2nd Cape Cod NotWedding (now called The Big Fake Wedding) last month at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel, then you missed out! Amazing Cape Cod vendors showcased their work on a beautiful day in November to over 100 attendees and all while having fun at the same time! Jessica & Michael, a Coast Guard couple based at Otis, participated this year as the Big Fake Wedding Couple and used the opportunity to renew their vows in front of their family, their two sons and a whole bunch of strangers! The cast, who also included another couple who stood in as their best man and maid of honor, showed off the stunning gowns and suits from Sposabella Bridal and the Cape Cod Tux and also showed off their fabulous moves on the dance floor that night! For those of you who do not know about The Big Fake Wedding, it is a bridal show alternative in the form of a big fake wedding. Wedding vendors come together to stage a wedding based off of an inspiration board provided by The Big Fake Wedding and then the attendees, brides, grooms and their entourages, come to check out the vendors in action. They get to taste the food, smell the flowers and dance to the music. What better way to find the vendors for your perfect day! The event is currently featured on Ruffled, so if you missed out, check out the photos, the video and the list of vendors who participated and pulled off such a fun and special event. You can also view more photos on The Big Fake Wedding’s website here. And here are some of the photos from the tables we designed for this year's event!

If you are you a bride (or groom!) and getting married on Cape Cod in the next couple of years, read on! The NotWedding is returning to Cape Cod on November 9th at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel in Falmouth. So what is the NotWedding, one might ask? Well this killer bridal show alternative comes complete with dinner and drinks, an emotional ceremony and a dance-party reception. The hand-selected vendors perform their services as they would at a real wedding, and the “wedding guests” get to hear the music, taste the cakes, and smell the flowers… while enjoying a night of great food, dancing and surprises, leaving brides-to-be saying “I want my wedding to be just like that!” For brides and grooms, the event serves as a source of inspiration, a resource in finding trusted wedding vendors and an emotional reminder to plan for what comes after the wedding: a marriage! For participating wedding vendors, the event exposes their business to new referral sources, while also exposing each vendor to a wealth of inspiration, resources and confidence to take their business to the next level. The NotWedding originated in Atlanta and came to Cape Cod for the first time last year. Since then, the event has expanded all over the country. There were 25+ events all over the US last year and next year there will be even more! The NotWedding travels to cities like Boston, New York, Charlotte, Nashville, Atlanta, Charleston, Denver and more. So if you can't make it to the Cape Cod event, check it out to see if you can attend in another city! This year’s NotCouple will be Jessica & Mike - a Coast Guard couple who will be renewing their vows at the Cape Cod event and inspiring couples with their attire, their commitment to a solid marriage and some amazing dance moves. Buy your tickets soon, as only a limited number are available! It is an event NOT to be missed! Tickets are $30 and can be purchased online by clicking here. If you were unable to attend The First NotWedding on Cape Cod last month at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel, then be my guest as I highlight the vendors that participated, share a photo and lure you to The NotWedding website to creep the party!
The First NotWedding on Cape Cod was a sold out event with 150+ guests, 30+ vendors and loads of fun! Chris & Peyton Lambton, local Cape Cod celebrities, and Chris’ brother and sister-in-law Meagan and Mark, joined us this year as the NotBridal Party and by the looks of it, they had just as much fun as everyone else! The event began with a beautiful ceremony in the Sea Crest’s Ocean View room with decor by Designer’s Touch and a newly debuted boardwalk aisle by True North Event rentals. After the ceremony guests enjoyed a mini-cocktail hour and then processed down the hall to the Nauset Ballroom where the found the space decorated by florists, designers and other fabulous vendors. Sea Crest served an amazing plated dinner and after dinner was served guests got the chance to meet the vendors of The NotWedding in the Tunnel of Love. The dance floor opened hosted by DJ Danny Walsh and the party continued. The guests left the event saying “This was so much fun! It was the best bridal event I have ever attended!” If you were unable to attend, be sure to check out the event from start to finish on The NotWedding website. And not to worry, rumor has it that the event will be back in November 2014 again! Interested vendors can apply online at www.thenotwedding.com/apply Are you a bride getting married in 2014, 2015, 2016 and want to attend an amazing event where you can get a boat load of inspiration? Then mark your calendars for November 24th and attend the first ever NotWedding on Cape Cod at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel in Falmouth!
While on Pinterest over a year ago, I somehow ended up on The NotWedding’s website and immediately wanted to bring the event to Cape Cod. After conversations with the owner, Callie, attending a NotWedding in Atlanta and many exciting email exchanges, we decided it would be a brilliant idea to bring the event to the Cape! Since then the NotWedding has also expanded to multiple cities around the country like New York, Charlotte, Nashville, Wichita and more! So what is the NotWedding, one might ask. Chris & Peyton will be renewing their vows at the Cape Cod event and inspiring couples with their attire, their commitment to a solid marriage and some amazing dance moves. Needless to say, the 3 day/2 night experience was amazing. We met some awesome people, learned a lot about what do to for our NotWedding taking place on Cape this November and walked away with ideas spilling out of our ears! Many photos, notes and videos later, we returned back to the Cape and were able to announce the NotWedding Cape Cod date on March 15th. Marni and I arrived in Atlanta on a Sunday morning, grabbed lunch with a fabulous waitress down the street from our hotel, took a quick nap (seeing that we had been up since 4:30am!) and met NotWedding creator Callie for dinner at Atlanta NotWedding caterers restaurant, Sun in My Belly. Can you say delicious?! We were greeted by Callie with a box of Krispy Kremes, enjoyed a fabulous dinner with lots of conversation and made our way back for a good nights sleep so that we could be ready to assist at the NotWedding the next day. Monday we arrived at the Mason Murer Fine Art center just outside of the city with our Starbuck's in hand and got to work moving 300 chivari chairs. We watched as the NotBride arrived to get her hair and make-up done, as the vendors came in and out to decorate their tables, set-up the ceremony space, take photos & video and so much more. The gallery was buzzing with creativity. At 5:45pm guests began to arrive, at 6:15pm the ceremony began. Guests then enjoyed a wonderful buffet dinner from Sun in My Belly and dancing from an super fun Atlanta band. The Tunnel of Love opened for guests to learn about the vendors and the night ended after the bride and groom made their exit. Marni and I retreated to our hotel - aching after moving 300 chairs three times - looked at each other, exhausted and knowing that we both loved every minute of it. We had a beautiful booth at the event manned by Amy, Mandee and myself, as well as a beautiful tablescape which I was so happy with! Our booth was set-up like a guest book, where interested brides filled out a pennant with their information and we hung it from our twine to create a fun colored display by the end of the day. We also provided each bride with something blue for their information, handmade blue flower pins! The tablescape could not have been possible without the beautiful flowers from All About Flowers for Weddings, wonderful rentals from Rentals Unlimited and creative menus from Dulce Press. The Cape Cod Celebrations team created the vision, spray painted recycled cans and mason jars, used chalkboard paint for the table number and vendor frame, made cute pinwheels for favors and had so much fun doing it! I wish I could have taken it all home! Huge thank you to Tom Davis at Studio 280, Kelly Hike at Hike Photography and Chris Cook from Chris Cook Photography for providing the photos below! Also at the event Mandee and I put on a 30 minute seminar called "The DIY Bride" where we shared DIY ideas with 10-12 brides and their guests. (Check out some photos here from You Ought to be in Pictures) We also made three different crafts with them to show them how easy it is to DIY. We made tissue packets called "Tears of Joy", drink stirrers and hand painted signs. We love DIY brides, but remember that you should not be doing any DIY the day of your wedding!! Find someone else to do projects for you that day, or hire someone to manage all of your perfect details! So I am in the process of getting ready to do a DIY seminar at the Bridal Event at New Seabury coming up this weekend and I thought I would share with you some of the must have items I have discovered every DIY bride needs to have!
