So your son is turning 5 in July and thanks to Pinterest you need to be the most creative mom or dad and blow everyone out of the water right? Dessert tables, crazy fun games, food that looks like their favorite Star Wars character or Disney princess, new cars as favors, the whole nine yards. I laugh because I was that mom a week ago for my son's 5th birthday party in the middle of my wedding season and I still wanted to make it really fun. I did not give away cars, but I felt like I did! And the best part is that if I had more time maybe I would have! :)
So after surviving through his 2 hour birthday with only 10 kids (I cut back his list because I did not want 27 kids running around my house!) I decided I need to write a little post for all of you busy moms and dads out there that want to throw a fun party for your kids, but do not have the time. Or maybe you do, but you want to enjoy the party and remember it when it is over. Even as a planner, I wish I had someone there to do the dirty work so I could have enjoyed my friends and family and watched Jack play with his friends! If you have awesome ideas and have the time to do it all - GREAT! More power to you! Then what I would highly recommend is hiring someone to come in for a couple of hours to help set up, keep drinks, food, etc, stocked up and to clean up after. Oh man do I wish I had someone to clean up! If you have awesome ideas but have no clue how to do it, then we can also help you with bringing your ideas to life, or helping to create some new, fun ideas as well. This is what we live for! The moral of the story is, enjoy your party and your friends. Just because it is your kid's party, doesn't mean that you can't have fun too! Trust me, it will be totally worth it!

Callie wanted a tea party birthday with her friends and their American Girl dolls so my friend Jen, Callie's Mom and owner of Dulce Press, reached out to me and her team of vendors to come together and to pull of a fun tea party at her home for her daughter's birthday! Of course I said yes as we love planning and designing birthday parties whenever we can on Cape Cod - especially for a cute group of girls! We helped Jen pull together the decor and tablescape, while Judy from All About Flowers brought in stunning flowers to decorate the table and Kerry from Cape Cod Lollicakes provided cake truffles for the girls. Jen purchased fun decorations for the event, but also made a lot of it herself. From the printable, personalized napkins, to the colorful bunting and the pom-pom chair decorations, Jen can do almost anything when it comes to paper products. Ralph Alswang stopped by to capture the setting and got some pics of the girls having a fabulous time! ![]() Many weddings on Cape Cod take place at locations outside of a church - like on the beach, by a lighthouse or in a backyard - leaving many couples to find their own officiants to oversee the ceremony. Cape Cod has a great selection of officiants of different faiths to choose from, but the question is - what should you be looking for when you are researching and interviewing these people? Below is a list of things which I think are important when considering a person to marry you, no matter what your faith. Personality Personality is a big trait to look for no matter what vendor you are looking to hire for your wedding day, but when speaking to someone that will join you and your fiance together forever in front of all of your friends and family, you definitely want to be sure that you are comfortable with their personality. And vise versa, you want to make sure that he or she is comfortable with your personality and beliefs. Faith Some couples require a certain faith when looking for someone to perform the marriage. Some officiants are ministers, rabbis, or a justice of the peace. It is not likely that you will find a catholic priest to perform a marriage outside of a church, unless it is a family friend. But be sure when you are researching and interviewing that you discuss your faith with him or her so that they understand and are comfortable with any of the rituals that you would like to include in your ceremony. Well-Spoken When speaking with the officiants you are considering, be sure that they are well spoken and that they can carry a conversation with you comfortably. They should be able to speak clearly to you about your options without hesitation and should make you feel welcome. If they are going to be speaking in front of your guests, you want to make sure they are comfortable speaking with you. Ask a Friend or Family Member Many couples choose to go a different route when selecting someone to marry them. It is very popular for couples to find a very well spoken friend or family member get a one day marriage designation so that they can perform the service. If this is the way you choose to go, I recommend sitting down with this person and talking through the ceremony and what specifics you will want. I also recommend purchasing a book about wedding ceremonies to help you in writing the ceremony and personalizing it to you. No matter what you decide, definitely do your research and ask your venues and other vendors for good recommendations. Also - be sure you do your research on how to obtain your marriage license as it can differ from town to town. ![]() Are you planning to have a super fabulous holiday party for your friends, family or co-workers on Cape Cod?
