In case you missed it - one of our super fun, DIY weddings was featured on Every Last Detail last week! I love Lauren Grove and her team and was so thankful that she saw the beauty and originality in this event to include it on her beautiful website. Carin and Billy were such wonderful people, I was honored to be a part of their special Monday wedding at a private home in Harwich.
Check out the post for the details and a ton of fabulous pics from Channing Johnson!

Working with Judy & Ben was so much fun! I knew that when I first met them in my office at the beginning of the year that we were going to have fun when Judy pulled out her adorable mini idea book with fabulous travel inspired ideas in navy and pink!
The event was beautiful, with absolutely every aspect planned by the bride, all I had to do was execute her vision. From the cafe lights over the deck and pink candy bar to the luggage tag escort cards in suit cases and post card guest book, she did not miss a beat. If Judy was not a nurse I would be afraid she would steal my day job! For vendors they worked with some new people that I was fortunate enough to get to work with for the first time. He photographer was Grace Kim, from Washington state if I remember correctly, and her hair and make-up was done by Charlotte Phinney from Boston. Her flowers were beautiful and done by The Tangled Web, a new florist from Pembroke who was great to work with as well! And the over all event was held at the Beach House Grill atChatham Bars Inn - my old stomping grounds! ![]() I have been so fortunate over the past 5 years to have awesome referrals from some fabulous couples. By just working with one couple - Kim & Chris - in 2009, I have now worked with two of their friends and most recently, Chris' brother Geoff. It is so fun to attend the weddings and see so many familiar faces!! Anna & Geoff and their families were so much fun to work with. They had a picture perfect day - maybe a bit on the warm side - for their ceremony and reception at theWychmere Harbor Club in Harwich. I was joined with Matt & Enna from Grazier Photography - what a wonderful couple they were to work with! Check out their blog post here (much better photos than mine)- and Bella's Blooms for the elegant flowers. Murray Hill Talent provided their band Unity for the entertainment for the evening and Cape Destinations provided safe transportation to and from the club for guests. They also changed up the traditional wedding cake and had pies brought in from Marion's Pie Shop - Yum! I have my fingers crossed that they all know more couples that need a wedding planner - because I love seeing this crew almost every year! Jana & Brooks were a fabulous couple looking to get married on Cape Cod in July with their closest friends and family - and one of my most favorite locations on the Cape for an intimate ceremony and reception is the Boat House at Chatham Bars Inn.
They had their ceremony on the edge of the sand on a beautiful clear day. Tom Davis was there to shoot photos (check out his photos here), Designers Touch provided the stunning flowers and Rentals Unlimited delivered all of the chairs and linens. They even rented a serpentine kids table with buckets we put together for each child attending. We also arranged the Chatham Bars Inn activities staff to come and take the kids on a scavenger hunt around the beach so the adults could enjoy their clam bake dinner. Vanessa and Brok are a fabulous couple from Minneapolis looking to get married on the Cape in an intimate setting with just immediate family. The big blow out reception would take place weeks later in Minneapolis.
They decided that the beach in front of the Ocean House in Dennis would be a perfect setting with dinner to follow with 30 of their closest family and those who could not make the trip out west. It was a perfect day - minus a bit of wind - and Judy from All About Flowers put together a beautiful location for their beach ceremony as well as bright yellow flowers for the bride and her cake! Chris Cook joined me to take photos of the couple and then followed them to Chapin Beach after dinner for sunset photos on the beach. Nikita & Laura came to me in December looking for someone to be there the day of their event to make sure everything went smoothly. I am so glad they decided to work with me because their event was beautiful!
With specialty linens from Rentals Unlimited, gorgeous flowers from a family friend who flew in from Texas and put them together in their hotel room(!) and the unique setting of the Cape Cod Museum of Art - it was a picture perfect day. The photos I captured below from my iPhone do not even do the trick as Julia Cumes was there and captured the whole event from the vows to the beach and the African dancing! ![]() I had my first wedding at the Popponesset Inn on 10/10/10 with a fabulous couple, Erin & Eric. The day was picture perfect and the location was more than I could ask for. Having never been to the Popponesset before (I live in Yarmouth Port, so New Seabury for me is a hike!!) I did not know what to expect. Upon arrival I felt as if I was in another world, the landscaping is beautiful and the Inn is literally a stones throw away from the water - come to find out after Erin & Eric's wedding. After having a first meeting with Aaron - the catering manager at the Popponesset - back in September, I knew the day would run smoothly. Erin & Eric had planned a very unique wedding with all sorts of fun ideas up their sleeves. I just came in to make sure all of their ideas came to fruition without any stress. From home made quoahog place cards and DIY centerpieces to their own self-logoed rap name temporary tattoos and homemade programs, I think that Erin & Erin win the prize this year for creativity and cost cutting ideas. After their ceremony in the tent on the water at the Poppy they had all of their guests go out to the beach with a stone and say a prayer or a wish for couple and throw it into the water - an old Irish blessing, which is very unique!! But, I am pretty sure that the rap the couple performed as their entrance music was a first and a last for me, and probably the most awesome entrance I have ever witnessed by a bride and groom. To top it all off they worked with some great vendors too!! Gary from Cape Tunes, Jennifer Gunn, Bob Kahan, and Cakes by Catheren just to name a few! Thanks to everyone for making this such a great event. I can't wait to recommend Aaron and the Popponesset to future Cape Cod brides! Harun & Austin came to me early in 2011 requesting assistance for their small Cape Cod wedding which they were hoping to plan in Provincetown. After some research and budget realizations they ended up renting a great house in Orleans with a beautiful view for their rehearsal dinner & ceremony and held their reception at theCaptain Linnell House and everything worked out perfectly! The weather was beautiful, the food for the rehearsal dinner and small cocktail hour before dinner at the house from Far Land Provisions was wonderful, and the reception with flowers by Meredith Fancy and tunes by Scott Rosenthal were just what the couple was looking for. They even had Cape Cod Lollicake truffles for each guest as their favors - my favorite! I also loved their cupcake tree from Cottage Street Bakery - yum!
Even though the event was small, it had a lot of moving pieces - from a rehearsal dinner, henna artist and karaoke at the rental house the day before to the ceremony and mini cocktail hour at the rental house, to photos on the beach, and a reception at the Captain Linnell House - it was a busy couple of days! |
